I just bought an electric car so I am doing my part, right? Actually no, an electric car charged by a coal-fired plant produces more CO2 than a gasoline-powered hybrid car – 2020 report by the Department of Energy.

The reality is although electric cars say they are “zero emissions” that is simply not true. They are only transferring the problem to a different location not fixing the problem. The only way to fix the problem is to charge from 100% renewable sources. Most experts agree that we are still 30-50 years away from using 100% renewables.

The Department of Energy's Alternate Fuels Data Centers report details the breakdown of actual CO2 from different technologies as they exist right now.

What do we do in the mean time?

The real solution is to deal with the machines that are polluting in the first place right now while we are building out our renewable energy infrastructure.

Ships, trains, heavy equipment, trucks, cars, snow mobiles, jet skis, lawnmowers, motorcycles, generators and many more are ALL contributors and they ALL must improve now!
